Ed Thornton specializes in customized exercise training sessions for men and women over the age of 50. As a published author in the field with twenty eight years of training experience in Boulder Colorado, he brings a certain knowledge and wisdom of what it takes to become, and stay fit in this age of living longer, healthier, and more vibrant lives.
His training sessions take place in a private fitness studio, in a "one on one", nonthreatening and comfortable environment. Working in tandem with some of Boulder's best Physical Therapists, Ed has also gained experience in helping to rehab and build strength after knee and hip replacements, as well as shoulder and back surgeries.
Whether the individual is a lifelong athlete or someone who has just recently gotten interested in becoming more physically fit and active, Ed has the ability to customize an exercise program that fits the needs of the individual.

Developing core strength and eating a healthy diet, are two of the most important things we can do for ourselves after the age of 50.
The reason core strength is so important, is that bigger muscle groups in our body naturally start to go through a continued and significant progression of atrophy, especially as we get older.
Muscle loss with aging is known as sarcopenia, a diagnostic term derived from two Latin words, "sarco" for muscle, and "penia" for wasting.
It is a natural and progressive loss of muscle fiber associated with getting older.

When it comes to fitness, my goal has always been to offer the public a comfortable space to exercise, along with a motivational exercise program that included many years of extensive training experience, along with my complete and personalized guidance.
Having been a Personal Trainer working at City Recreation Centers and other large Health Clubs throughout most of the 1990s, I came to realize that many clients felt awkward and uncomfortable trying to fit into loud, sweaty, testosterone filled environments.

For one thing, his approach is simplicity itself.
One fitness studio with one trainer, a bunch of equipment, no waiting and no nonsense.
When you get done with a workout with Ed, you know he's done something for you.
Muscle groups that didn't get emphasized in the previous session, certainly get exercised in the current one because he varies your workouts consistently.
During our sessions, we also talk about diet and the rest of the things that affect my physical health directly.
At 60 some years of age, I feel like I'm in my prime, and want to keep it that way.
