He has a Bachelors of Science in education and carries a training certification through the Athletic Republic.
His love of exercise was born in Ulysses, Kansas where he was a two sport athlete in Football and Tennis.
He came to lawrence in the fall of 2003 to attend school at the University of Kansas where he studied pre-physical therapy.
While at KU James worked for TherapyWork P.A as a physical therapy technician where he learned from experts in the field of rehabilitavtive exercise and injury prevention.
