Our fitness program pushes athletes both physically and mentally. By mastering tasks and overcoming obstacles, our athletes develop the confidence they need to succeed in the gym and in life. Through consistent exercise, brave determination, and expert support, our athletes learn how to improve their overall well-being. We believe the work they do here will lead to better management of daily life skills and a stronger sense of autonomy.

At Fitness 4 Focus, our goal is to help our athletes achieve their ultimate potential. Founder Chris Russell alongside participant Thomas McHale was with us Friday to talk more about the program and share details on the O-2 Challenge. Our focus on strength includes much more than developing weak or atrophied muscle groups. Trainers test the mental fortitude of their athletes by facilitating strenuous situations and studying the response.

Building more than muscle, trainers help develop the athletes' emotional strength and resolve. Even when an athlete arrives at the gym tired, upset, or relentlessly perseverating, our trainers celebrate the intrinsic strength revealed by the athlete's willingness to keep showing up.

We have created a fitness program that challenges athletes both physically and mentally.
Over the past ten years, our curriculum has been designed and modified to give each athlete the very best.
Our athletes are guaranteed a full body workout each time they come to the gym, but they get much more than that.
Our trainers focus on four main areas in each session: strength, coordination, confidence, and independence.
By mastering tasks and overcoming obstacles, our athletes develop the confidence they need to thrive in the gym and beyond.
Each person is unique.
Fitness 4 Focus is for individuals who are impacted by intellectual, physical, mental and/or sensory challenges that affect their ability to do certain activities.
We serve all individuals from childhood through adulthood.
No matter what our athletes age is they are learning new skills, making new friends and gaining in strength, coordination, confidence and independence.
Our younger athletes are introduced to our earlier intervention.
Once they have mastered our early intervention curriculum they transition to our gym curriculum.
Chris is the Founder and CEO of Fitness 4 Focus.
After college Chris returned to Central Pennsylvania where he began to work for a local agency as a Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) from 2003-2012.
His primary role as a TSS was to provide intervention strategies in order to assist students in developing daily living, social and cultural skills.
In 2005, while playing catch during recess with a client named Tommy, Chris took notice that Tommy had deficits in areas that many take for granted.
Due to Chris' background in physical education and athletics, he immediately began to help Tommy improve in the areas of physical endurance, strength and coordination.
We are thrilled to bring the Fitness 4 Focus program to Charlotte.
Our mission is to affect change in the lives of individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities, helping our athletes achieve their ultimate potential.

Jeremy is better known in the Charlotte, NC area as Coach J.
He has coached for the child's fitness franchise Soccer Shots for 8 years, as well as coaching dual sports (soccer and basketball) for the Special Olympics for 4 years.
All athletes who would like to join the Fitness 4 Focus gym our required to come to a Free Gym Session first.
This will give athletes (and caregivers) an opportunity to learn about our program, get a taste of a session at the gym, and give us a chance to learn about an athletes current fitness level and goals.
Once you have become a member, you'll need to login to your account and select what day/time of the week the athlete will be coming to the gym.
We always recommend athletes come the same day and time each week whenever possible.
