Judo is a martial art that focuses on throwing your opponent and subduing them through pins, chokes and arm-locks. It is an effective form of self-defense, along with being a great way to stay in shape! You can expect to learn both the philosophical and martial arts aspects of Aikido, when you join Kin-Tora's Aikido program. Our classes are a lot of fun and offer a great workout, along with practicing in a safe and supportive environment.

Check out our kids judo program! Judo will make a positive impact on your child's life by improving their confidence and their fitness level while learning to defend themselves. Enrolling your child in Judo will be one of the best decisions you will make for them! Out team staffed with the most experienced nationally and Internationally recognized coaches and referees.

I'm the owner of Kin-Tora Martial Arts and Fitness Center. I have been studying Judo since I was 4 years old. With over 40 years' experience of training, competing and coaching, I'd love for you to see the difference that martial arts can make in your life or the lives of your children!

Brothers Tony and Marty Grisanti started Kin-Tora with the help of their parents, Salvatore and Doris Grisanti.
Tony and Marty began studying Judo in 1963 and became black belts 9 years later and began to teach.
They created Kin-Tora in 1974 out of their love for Judo, their desire to share it, and to have their own club where Judo could be taught and practiced: a club with a family atmosphere.
Kin-Tora started with just a few students and has flourished over the last 44 years.
Some of their first students are still with us today, including Sensei Eric Joseph.
Kin-Tora Martial Arts and Fitness Center, located on Lake Erie just on the outskirts of Buffalo, NY, is home to one of the finest Martial Arts studios in America.
Offering a variety of Martial Arts, taught by experienced instructors, it is a gem of opportunity for anyone interested in studying one or many Martial Arts.
This wonderful facility is home to world class Judo players who compete at all levels of the sport, including the Olympics.
Also available for study are Aikido and Ryukyu Kempo.
Kin-Tora is somewhat unique compared to other martial arts schools in that it offers several different styles of martial arts rather than just one, and in addition, has a weight room.
When Dr. Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo, entered Tokyo University at the age of 18, he began learning Tenshin Shinyo Ryu Jujitsu in 1877 and later he studied Kito Ryu Jujitsu as well as various Jujitsu techniques from the other distinct styles.
Because Kano wanted to teach Jujitsu for educational purposes and to distinguish his style from other styles, he renamed it "Judo", which means "the gentle way".
He said the purpose of Judo training is for sport, mental discipline, competition and self defense.
Welcome to Wadokai Aikido of Buffalo at KinTora Martial Arts Center.
My name is Michael Hawley, Dojo Cho, 6th Dan under Roy Y. Suenaka, Soke, founder of Wadokai, and direct student of the founder of aikido, O'Sensei.
Suenaka Sensei began his aikido career in 1953 in Hawaii and received the Certificate of Complete Mastery (Menkyo Keiden) from O'Sensei in 1961.
Over the years Aikido has gone in many directions, our style is called Suenaka-ha Tetsugaku-ho of the Wadokai association.
The style name translates into Suenaka style - Philosophical way.
Enrolling your child in Judo will be one of the best decisions you will make for them!
It will make a positive impact on their self-control, self-confidence and it's a great form of self-defense!
We teach the fundamentals of Judo in our kids class.
We teach them how to fall, throwing techniques and hold-downs.
This class also prepares them for tournaments by practicing randori on their feet and the mat.
We also host a couple grassrsoots tournaments per year " randori sessions" with local clubs.
