The Summit mission is to grow the climbing community by making the sport accessible and welcoming to people of all ages, races, genders and ability levels. Our vision is to expand into new locations and markets, provide career opportunities for our team members, and reduce socioeconomic barriers in the sport of climbing. In 1996, our Founder and CEO Kyle Clinkscales was just a long haired, hippy-looking dirt bag who had a long lived passion for coaching and a newfound passion for rock climbing.
At a local gym in Carrollton, Texas he began recruiting a small team, and just like that, Team Texas was born. He could've fostered one of the greatest youth teams in the nation and called it a day, but if you know Kyle, you know this was just the beginning. He decided on his vision: having his own gym where youth climbers could be built up and adult climbers could find likeminded community.
With the help of Stan Borodyansky, a team climber turned operational saving grace, our OG Grapevine location was acquired and the Summit community was born.

Summit, as a company, has a platform that reaches thousands of people.
Even though as individuals, we are just beginning to understand the extent of inequality and racism in our country and in the outdoor industry, we believe we must use our platform to promote justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI).
We fully support the Black Lives Matter movement "whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes" as well as countless other organizations striving for the same things.
