Mike has a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and has been working in the fitness industry for over 25 years. After two years of working in club operations at Le Pli Health Club & Spa in Cambridge, Mike decided to pursue personal training as a full time career and spent the next six years training people of all shapes, sizes and ages.
His clients ranged from pre-teens with cancer to athletes to people in their 80s. It was during this time that Mike began experimenting with the sport of triathlon, competing in his first sprint triathlon in the mid 90s. He has since completed dozens of triathlons, including 7 Ironman triathlons. Mike has brought his love of the sport to the club by creating Wave's "Wanna Tri" program, which has had over 50 participants compete in every distance from sprint to Ironman.
Mike is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and a USAT Level I Certified Triathlon Coach. He is CPR/AED certified from the American Heart Association. Claira recently joined the Wave team as a Certified Personal Training and Group Fitness Instructor, certified through International Sports Sciences Association.
