My name is Annette Padilla. I started in La Habra, CA in 1984, and I knew that I wanted to be involved with fitness to some extent throughout my life, but let me tell you a bit about my background first! I wasn't really sure about what I wanted to do for a living, but I did know that I had a gift for inspiring people! I began teaching group fitness classes in high school purely by chance.

It was "raining men" in the 80's, (for those that don't know, it was a big hit!), and the football team wanted to incorporate "aerobics" (now, of course known as group fitness), as part of their pre-season conditioning. The gal who was teaching at the time could no longer do it and I got, I suppose, recruited! Shortly after that I began teaching at a health club and it certainly was fun!

The bug didn't hit though until a few years later when I attended my first conference for group x instructors.
Services
I am certified by two top national organizations: the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, (AFAA).
I have over 35 years experience working in the fitness industry.
My continuing studies will give me an even greater-rounded education.
I pride myself on promptness, and appreciate you being ready to start at the agreed upon time.
This includes you already being warmed up and stretched.
I take training seriously, I want you to benefit from your investment, and trust me there will be plenty of fun time, but we are there to work!.
I mean, I "get" that the business model of bootcamps is to pack em in for cheap, run the participants all over the country and make a million, (It really is), but DAYAM!
Do the trainers not see all the knocking knees, deadlifts that'll break your back, piss-poor-executed pushups and unstable landings when jumping? AAACK!
People that really shouldn't be doing the bootcamps (yet) but fine, we do not want to discourage anybody from participating, but how about being available and present for those clients to ensure proper movement so they don't incur injury or exacerbate any current ones?
Personal training can seem intimidating, especially if you're new to it and often times, one just doesn't know what to expect.
You have the large bootcamps, jam-packed with people who have been going for a long time and do everything well and just kill it, and walking in as the "new person" can strike a fear and be intimidating.
Then you have 1-on-1 training- -with somebody you haven't ever met, you've never exercised before in your life and again, don't know what to expect.
This too can be intimidating.
For accountability, safety of training, knowing you're doing the exercise correctly, variety, supervision and the peace of mind that you're committed, you can't beat it!
You haven't yet found the value in a coach for training so most training rates you see are "too expensive.".
So the trainer takes you through your initial assessment and with what time is left, they take you through the workout they wrote you and hopefully you'll remember what to do when you go back to your big box gym or home.
I got my ass beat for jumping in a pool.
I grew up in fitness.
My parents were avid exercisers, my mom getting her sweat on in the living room to her favorite shows with Jack La Lanne and the Body Buddies, (all decked out in their shiny tights), and I can still see her in the backyard jumping rope on the patio, doing old school weight lifting and ab work on our patio table benches.
Bootcamps vs small group training and elementary school teachers - what p1sses me off Straight to it we go: BOOTCAMP As many people that the facility can fit or outdoor location can handle Barking orders FUN! Camaraderie Not well-supervised Potential for injury---HUGE SMALL GROUP TRAINING A select amount of people-no more than 10-15 at one.
